Summer is right around the corner y’all, and that means smoothie season! I love drinking smoothies when it’s hot out, and this strawberry banana smoothie hits the spot everytime. Not to mention, it’s a hit with the kids and anytime I can sneak something healthy into their daily intake, I’m in. I actually became obsessed with smoothies in the winter, believe it or not. I was doing hot yoga at the time and this was my after workout treat. I looked forward to coming home and rewarding myself with a cold delicious smoothie… it was the perfect treat! I tried so many different combinations during my hot yoga phase but this was definitely my favorite!
I often find myself at Jamba Juice during the hot summer days, and I’m always curious how they can make every one of their concoctions taste so amazing. And then one day, I made my smoothie with orange juice instead of milk and it hit me– THAT’S THE SECRET INGREDIENT! Any one of your smoothies can taste like it came straight from Jamba Juice if you just replace your liquid with good old OJ. I used Trop50 in this one because I wanted to cut out as many calories as I can, but it tastes even more delicious with regular orange juice. I also added some Chia seeds in here because of their amazing health benefits and used frozen berries to thicken it up. If you have fresh fruit, simply add ice to thicken the smoothie.
