Here’s What You Need To Know About Our 5 Favorite Food Bloggers

March 2, 2016

Long before we decided to start our own blog, we had our own favorite food bloggers. We subscribed to emails, liked their Facebook pages, followed them on instagram, liked all their pictures, and commented on recipes! So a little after we were in the blogging scene ourselves, we decided to reach out to these blogs and see if they wanted to participate in our blogger round up. We were so overwhelmed with the kindness and support that we received from them and decided to dedicate a whole post to these amazing bloggers that we strive towards and look up to. Thank you so much Natasha’s Kitchen, Tatyana’s Everyday Food, Let the Baking Begin, Little Broken Blog, and Olga’s Flavor Factory for your participation, your encouragement, and for your awesome food blogs that inspire us!

*This post contains affiliate links, which means that if you click on one of the product links, I’ll receive a very small percentage…maybe it will add up to be enough for a cup of coffee, but not enough for a new espresso machine or anything. (The price is still the same for you.) I only recommend products I personally use and love. And if you’d like to buy me an espresso machine, please contact me ASAP!

Answers from our 5 favorite food bloggers:

Natasha from Natasha’s Kitchen:

1. What is your all-time favorite cheat meal?
The thing we eat the most of which involves no cooking is our breakfast Greek yogurt parfaits. They are so easy, healthy and delicious and help to jump start our day. We do make our own granola every couple of weeks and it keeps things healthier (http://natashaskitchen.com/2015/09/18/pumpkin-flax-granola-recipe/)

2. What does a typical busy weeknight meal usually look like for your family?
A typical busy weeknight meal is usually leftovers – something I made for the blog earlier in the week. We love having a pot of soup in the fridge, like Mom’s Meatball Soup: http://natashaskitchen.com/2012/06/14/moms-meatball-soup-recipe/

3. What is the most popular/most viewed recipe on your blog?
It changes over time, but currently its: http://natashaskitchen.com/2015/06/01/cucumber-tomato-avocado-salad/ and this is a close second: http://natashaskitchen.com/2015/01/07/chicken-and-mushroom-casserole-video-recipe/

 4. What are the top 3 favorite kitchen tools/appliances that you can’t live without?
My Wusthof santoku knife: http://amzn.to/1QvzDvo, cutting board: http://amzn.to/1KI4K2l and good non-stick frying pan (I’m in love with this one from Zwilling: http://amzn.to/1nRKKW6 ). I couldn’t do much without those.

5. What are your favorite sweet and savory ingredients to cook with?
Sweet: Chocolate and Berries.  Savory: chicken broth, onion, garlic (they make my cooking world go ‘round)

Tatyana from Tatyana’s Everyday Food:

1. What is your all-time favorite cheat meal?
Hmm, this a hard one because I love all types of food! I absolutely love indulging in a huge, meaty hamburger made with grass-fed meat, blue cheese, bacon and caramelized onions; with a side of french fries, of course! Pizza is also one of my favorites! And every once in a while, I will get a huge craving for donuts and cheesecake.2. What does a typical busy weeknight meal usually look like for your family?
During the week, I like to prepare simple foods. I usually make salads for dinner every other day, like salad with chicken, steak or salmon, tossed with a ton of different veggies! Other days, I prepare pasta dishes with a simple home-made sauce and some type of meat. I like to add wilted spinach to just about everything! It’s an easy way to add more nutrition to any dish!3. What is the most popular/most viewed recipe on your blog?
My “Chocolate Covered Strawberries” video is super popular, as well as my “Sushi” video! They’re both old videos I made when I first started and I cringe when watching them but people still love them!

4. What are the top 3 favorite kitchen tools/appliances that you can’t live without?
My KitchenAid mixer is THE most important thing for baking! I could not bake without it! Second would be my knives. I love having super sharp knives that slice through anything with no problem! I’m constantly sharpening them. Third would be my frying pans made with a copper core by All-Clad. They heat super fast, they’re oven-safe and are very durable!

5. What are your favorite sweet and savory ingredients to cook with?
I love strawberries in just about anything! They are sweet and taste so great in any dessert. Chocolate is also a top contender! On the savory side, I’m a huge fan of garlic, cheese and wine. Add those 3 to any dish and you cannot go wrong!

Marina from Let The Baking Begin:

1. What is your all-time favorite cheat meal?
I don’t have cheat meals. Cheat meals imply that someone’s on a constant restriction, so once in a while you’ll have something that’s forbidden so to say. I hate restrictions and don’t do well when I know that I can’t have something. Instead, I tend to eat a little bit of everything. If I want a piece of cake, I’ll eat less for lunch and dinner, to allow for that piece of cake. Life’s too delicious to be eating cheat meals.2. What does a typical busy weeknight meal usually look like for your family?

Typical busy weeknight meal is either soup, or some kind of quick one pot/pan dish like my chicken & potatoes recipe, or fish and potatoes.

3. What is the most popular/most viewed recipe on your blog?
Number one recipe on my site is the One Pan Chicken and Potatoes recipe, which is basically chicken thighs (w/ skin & bone in), potatoes and carrots roasted in one pan for about an hour. (http://letthebakingbeginblog.com/2014/05/one-pot-chicken-potatoes/)

4. What are the top 3 favorite kitchen tools/appliances that you can’t live without?
The 3 favorite tools in my kitchen are my KitchenAid Mixer, a good spatula (this one – “http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001QTVT4K/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B001QTVT4K&linkCode=as2&tag=letthebakbeg-20&linkId=QGV2DNIMG4FAXQIF) and probably parchment paper. KitchenAid, obviously is amazing if you’re a baker. Or even if you’re not. I love whipping mashed potatoes in my mixer. The spatula – it is flat but with flexible edges. You’re able to scrape the bowl clean with it, and then scrape it against the edge if you need to get something off the spatula. I’ve been using it for years, and anytime it breaks, I just order another one. And parchment paper of course. I love how easy it is to remove stuff off it when you bake. Cookies, cakes, chicken, fish, you name it – parchment paper’s amazing for all of it!

5. What are your favorite sweet and savory ingredients to cook with?
I don’t really have any special or favorite ingredients. I don’t do menus for the week, so I just keep my fridge and pantry well stocked, that way I can make anything I want, anytime I want, without having to run to the store.

Katya from Little Broken Blog:

1. What is your all-time favorite cheat meal?
French fries or potato chips. Not really a meal but potatoes are my weakness. Especially if they come loaded with cheese and all the good toppings.2. What does a typical busy weeknight meal usually look like for your family?
Most of the nights it’s the food from recipe testing that I do during the day but when I do cook strictly for the family we love soups and chilis in any shape or form especially now. Such as Chicken Split Pea Soup or White Chicken Chili with Apples. We also do a lot of steamed dumplings. They’re quick and easy.3. What is the most popular/most viewed recipe on your blog?
Most popular recipe is the Lentil Chili. It’s vegan and vegetarian. Super nutritions but filling at the same time.

4. What are the top 3 favorite kitchen tools/appliances that you can’t live without?
Mini food processor, non-stick saute pan, and my dutch oven that I ordered from QVC years ago.

5. What are your favorite sweet and savory ingredients to cook with?
As far as sweet ingredients – I love anything with berries, greek yogurt, honey. Savory ingredients – avocado, spinach, chicken.

Olga from Olga’s Flavor Factory:

1. What is your all-time favorite cheat meal?
Potato Pancakes2. What does a typical busy weeknight meal usually look like for your family?

We had so much fun reading over all of these responses that it got us thinking about what our own answers would be! So here it is, from Yuli and Irina at SweetSomethingsBlog:

1. What is your all-time favorite cheat meal?
This would hands-down have to be something chocolatey and rich like this molten chocolate lava cake (or these amazing chocolate chip cookies– my weak spot!).

2. What does a typical busy weeknight meal usually look like for your family?
Usually some kind of quick one-pan meal involving veggies and a protein, like this one. We love salmon, so we do a lot of that also!
4 ingredient dinner

3. What is the most popular/most viewed recipe on your blog?
The white wine mushroom gravy was a huge hit and is STILL one of the most popular recipes on our blog. Looks like people agree that it’s the best gravy ever!

4. What are the top 3 favorite kitchen tools/appliances that you can’t live without?
It’s hard to pick just three! First and foremost it would have to be my chef knife…I don’t go anywhere I might have to cook without it. Second, my stand mixer–whether I’m mixing cupcake batter, whipping up cream, or shredding chicken; the stand mixer is my go to (these are the two we use: a Cusinart to get all of my commercial baking done and Kitchenaid)! And lastly, my All Clad solid copper core frying pan. This thing changed the way I cook and has improved the flavor in countless dishes!5. What are your favorite sweet and savory ingredients to cook with?
Sweet: chocolate, peanut butter, and cream cheese
Savory: bacon, garlic, and cheeseHope you enjoyed learning about the people behind these food blogs as much as we did. Thank you to all of you who emailed us question suggestions for this round up! Looks like we all have some delicious sounding new recipes to try out now!
