Appetizers Plates

3 Ingredient Baked Brie (PLUS Our First GIVEAWAY!!!)

December 4, 2015

I discovered this amazing little appetizer only a few months ago and have already made it a dozen times. It is SO easy to make and requires only 3 ingredients. I happened to have some homemade apricot jam that I made earlier this summer stashed away so I decided to use it for this recipe but there are so many different variations. You can change it with the seasons or use what you have on hand. Top it off with your favorite cranberry sauce for the winter, brown sugar and apples for the fall time, or fresh fruit and your favorite fruit preserves anytime of the year!

There’s something about this warm delicious cheese that brings everybody together. I like to wait for guests to start arriving before I pop it in the oven and when I take it out, friends and family immediately gather around this bubbling, cheesy goodness. They fill their plates with rosemary crackers, slices of granny smith and red delicious apples, and just about anything else they can scoop this cheese up with. It goes really fast, so make sure you grab yourself a slice first before your guests leave you with nothing but crumbs!

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz. brie cheese
  • 1 package crescent rolls
  • 1/2 cup apricot jam

Baked BrieLine baking sheet with parchment. Unroll your package of crescents directly on the parchment and gently, with your fingers, seam up all the breaks to make a single sheet of pastry. This step is important because if you have holes in your pastry, all the apricot jam and cheese will leak out causing a huge mess.Baked BrieSpread your apricot jam on top of the dough.
The rind of the cheese is completely edible and can be left on for additional flavor and texture. But if you prefer to have just the creamy interior part without the rind, you can scrape it off with a butter knife. Just make sure to refrigerate the cheese first so it’s firmer and easier to remove.
Baked BriePlace your brie centered on the dough and gently cover it with the overlapping pastry making sure all of the cheese is encased in the dough. Baked BrieBake at 325° for 15 minutes or until golden brown in color. Transfer to serving dish and enjoy while warm with crackers, apples, grapes, pretzels, or on it’s own. You can’t go wrong any which way you choose to enjoy this Baked Brie!Baked Brie

3 Ingredient Baked Brie

Ingredients

  • 8 oz. package brie cheese
  • 1 package crescent rolls
  • 1/2 cup apricot jam

Instructions

  1. Line baking sheet with parchment. Unroll your package of crescents directly on the parchment and gently, with your fingers, seam up all the breaks to make a single sheet of pastry. This step is important because if you have holes in your pastry, all the apricot jam and cheese will leak out causing a huge mess.
  2. Spread your apricot jam on top of the dough.
  3. If you are paranoid, like me, you can scrape the white casing off the cheese with a butter knife, or leave it on. This is an optional step.
  4. Place your brie centered on the dough and gently cover it with the overlapping pastry making sure all of the cheese is encased in the dough.
  5. Bake at 325* for 15 minutes or until golden brown in color. Transfer to serving dish and enjoy while warm with crackers, apples, grapes, pretzels, or on it's own.

Kitchen Favorites Giveaway!

kitchen favorites giveaway

Hey guys! We are so excited to put together a raffle giveaway to our loyal readers and subscribers! It was hard to come up with just a few of our favorite tools to use in the kitchen (because we have about 100), but this is a great start!

Epicurean Cutting Board

The first item is the Epicurean cutting board. It may look like all your cutting board but don’t be fooled! The amazing non porous design keeps it from absorbing any flavors or harboring bacteria. This means that after a quick wash you can switch from mincing garlic and onion to slicing up some apples on the same surface with no flavors remaining! It’s also oven safe (up to 350°) so you can pop it in to warm up food without incurring any damage. And one of the best features is that it is completely dishwasher safe! Another bonus is that it’s really good on your knives and won’t dull them as quickly as the traditional wood or plastic cutting board. Can you tell I’m in love with it?! I’ve had mine for 5+ years now and it’s in as great of condition as the day I bought it. Can you say the same for your wood and plastic cutting boards?

(Click here to check it out on Amazon for more details.)

Silicone Baking Mat

The second item in our giveaway is a silicone mat. You know how parchment paper works miracles for food not sticking? Well this does the exact same thing and without any waste! Use it for making roasted veggies, perfect chocolate chip cookies, macarons, and everything else you don’t want sticking to your pan. I also love how perfectly it fits to the shape of a pan (no burnt edges like with parchment paper) and how easy it is to clean.

(Click here to check it out on Amazon for more details.)

Garlic Slicer & Grater

Last but not least, is the garlic slicer and grater. As you may have noticed, many of our recipes include fresh garlic cloves. This is the ultimate kitchen tool for handling garlic. The stainless steel blades can be used to slice garlic into paper thin pieces, and the grater transforms the garlic into a perfectly smooth paste. The removable sliding pusher plate protects your fingers from any cuts (or smelling like garlic) and the entire thing is completely dishwasher safe!

These items are worth over $50, but are yours completely free of charge if you win the raffle! Even if you already have these in your kitchen, they are a great gift idea (think Christmas!) for any family member or friend that cooks.

I think you two should host a cooking class so we can all learn from your amazing kitchen abilities! Also, maybe some meals that people can bring to potlucks and other gatherings. Like some classy casseroles. Things that you can put together in a 9×13 (maybe even in the morning) and then pop in the oven to bake right before you have to go somewhere….or just for family dinner.

      Thanks April!
A cooking class sounds like a lot of fun! You will be the first to know when we do that. Thanks for the tip! And casseroles are a great idea as well, we’ll try and get a recipe up in the next couple weeks. Something nice and hearty for the winter perhaps…

that cutting board sounds like it would be quite comfortable in my kitchen 😉
Love the baked brie too! My husband is a huge fan of it so I make it at least twice a month since I tried it at Irina’s house. And he still asks whats the special occasion! I make mine with a puff pastry sheet instead of the crescent rolls. I just could not get the crescent rolls sealed up well enough and kept making big messes 🙁

Electric pressure cookers are becoming very popular but it’s tough to find recipes. I’d love to see your take on this.

    • Reply Yuli & Irina December 12, 2015 at 11:15 am

We will definitely do some experimenting with that! I’ve heard that soups are super quick and easy to make in one of those. Maybe I should be adding one to my Christmas list this year!
