Easy Chocolate Lava Cake (only 5 ingredients!)

So you say you can’t bake? Too Difficult? Too many steps and ingredients? I’m about to change your mind. This easy chocolate lava cake is SO easy to make and there are only 5 ingredients! THAT’S IT! I’ll bet you have these items in your pantry right now. It takes about 10 minutes to whip these up and another 12-15  minutes in the oven (depending on how flowy you want your lava). But the best part is how impressive and fancy it turns out. If you want a real showstopping dessert and want to wow your guest, you have to make this cake! No one has to know With how easy it really is, it will be our little secret.

Only 5 simple ingredients for Easy Chocolate Lava Cake:

6 eggs
1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
8 ounces bittersweet chocolate
8 ounces butter
1 cup all purpose flourEasy Chocolate Lava Cake

Preheat oven to 350°.

Whip eggs and sugar on high speed in a stand mixer for 2 minutes until pale yellow and foamy.

Easy Chocolate Lava Cake

Place chocolate and butter in a microwave safe bowl and heat for 30 seconds. Stir, then return to microwave and continue heating in 30 second increments until chocolate and butter are smooth and melted.

Fold melted chocolate into egg mixture.

Fold in flour.

Butter the individual ramekins well and dust with cocoa.

Divide the batter evenly between the 8 ramekins and bake for 12-15 minutes until top is set but center is still wiggly.

Serve in ramekins or run a knife along the edges and turn it out onto individual plates.

Easy Chocolate Lava Cake

All ready to go into the oven. (You can prep these and refrigerate them this way over night or until you’re ready for dessert!)

 

Do not overcook these because they will not have the flowing center that makes them so delicious! Once out of the oven, put a serving plate on top of the ramekin and flip it over. MOC Gently remove ramekin, and voilà— a beautiful lava cake ready to be broken into!

    Ha! I love that you specified “granulated” sugar! Remember that one time I was trying to make frosting and used granulated sugar instead of confectioners? oy! And just this week for Baby T’s birthday cake, I used confectioners sugar for the frosting (didn’t want to make the same mistake twice!) only to read later on in the recipe that I should have used granulated… someday I’ll learn, I promise! This recipe looks great. I plan to make it for Big T’s birthday 🙂

      Olya, I have complete confidence in you that you can make this cake! The biggest mistake you can make here is overcooking it and in that case it will just be a chocolate cake without the lava in the center. Let me know how it comes out!!
